FNAF OC: Ruff's Biography

The people in charge of Freddy Fazbear's thought the arcade room needed something more, so they installed Ruff to stand bolted to the floor and say random phrases to the children about games and just be more exciting. He said things like “Hiya, game-lovers, my name is Ruff! Hah hah hah!” “If you lose, don't be sad, just try again!” “Remember to save your tickets, kids! You can turn them in for fantastic prizes later!” and “Try again, kids, every dog has his day! Woof woof!” He was relatively new to Freddy Fazbear's, being installed around two years later than the rest of the animatronics. He stood and watched kids play the same games every day, and that had a big part in his descent into madness. His madness isn't this manic, crazy thing, it's actually very calm and still, and you probably wouldn't even know he was crazy.

He started becoming obsessed with the games, in a way that he was consumed with winning and knew every single aspect of every single game. Being an expert at the games is not just his passion, it's his obsessive-complusion. As he got more and more insane, he started getting inwardly furious at the kids because they always lost. He hated the children and despised how they could just be happy with losing and getting their loser prizes.

He started saying things to the children that he was not programmed with that were increasingly rude and violent, such as “Hiya, losers, my name is Ruff!” “If you lose, don't be sad, just go to Hell!” “Remember to save your tickets, kids! I may have to crush your heads if you do!” and “Try again, kids, you can't do it right anyway! You rotten children should go die like dogs! Woof! Woof!” Obviously, that only lasted a day or two because even though kids didn't really pay attention or understand, parents noticed and complained about it. The owners didn't want to completely get rid of Ruff because that would have been a waste and a hassle, so they just removed his entire audio system so he couldn't make any sounds at all. When they did that, he couldn't say his name anymore, but they still wanted people to know his name was Ruff, so they made a name tag to put on his vest.

There he lasted for a while, tortured by watching children fail at the games that seemed to be his whole existence and purpose and life. At nights, he would just play the games and beat all of them every time (obviously using up all the power, to the annoyance of the other animatronics who wanted to do stuff too). After the bite of '87, Ruff started getting violent towards humans like the rest of the animatronics were already. However, he has random, short moments of sanity, and one day it went on for about  an hour. Knowledge of his murdering people and of the restaurant's and animatronics' condition tortured him with guilt and fear and despair, and since he's mute and couldn't share with anyone, he had a breakdown in which he tried desperately to remove human blood and rotting flesh from his mouth, but ended up (in animatronic form) tearing off his whole jaw and ripping his neck and tongue (and in gijinka form) tearing off the skin from his jaw and neck. In gijinka form, his fingertips are scraped down to the bone. (In gijinka form, my headcanon is that wounds don't really heal, ((for example, Foxy)) so it stayed that way after he went back into madness.)

In the time frame of the game, he sometimes tries to get Mike, but mostly he stays at the arcade and plays the games all night. The other animatronics usually try to stay away from him, because his tongue, his big, staring eyes and his silence all make him slightly awkward to be around. Freddy just thinks Ruff is disgusting because he doesn't care about the restaurant and only cares about the games, and Bonnie and Foxy just are uncomfortable around him, and Chica tries to be nice sometimes but also stays out of his way. He would hate playing a multiplayer game against anyone who wasn't a computer, anyway, so it works out for all of them. In animatronic version, he just has some cords removed in his machine to make him mute, but in gijinka form, he has a wide, welt-like scar right below his collarbone where mystery people went in and then up to remove his vocal cords.
